PLATFORM CAPABILITY · CONNECT & GOVERN

Semantic Layer

Define what your data means once. Every system, every agent, every team works from the same governed business model.

CONTEXT
Every team has its own definition of "customer". Every AI model trains on a different version of "revenue". Nobody is working from the same truth.

Business concepts defined differently across finance, risk and operations. AI models operating on raw schemas with no business context, producing outputs nobody can defend. Every new use case starts by resolving the same definitional conflicts that were never fixed at the source.

90–98%

AI answer accuracy when agents operate on a governed semantic layer vs 10–60% without it.

One

definition consumed by BI, APIs and AI agents simultaneously.

Zero

manual ontology mapping. AI automates discovery and schema alignment.

WHAT IT DELIVERS

Business meaning. One source. Every consumer.

The Semantic Layer defines what the business means. Governed Data Products package and version that meaning; the Data Marketplace distributes it.

The Semantic Layer defines entities, relationships and business rules in formal ontologies. Every consumer – human analyst, BI tool or AI agent – operates from the same governed definition without duplicating logic.

Ontologies are mapped to physical data schemas automatically. The gap between what the database stores and what the business understands is closed without manual translation or a dedicated modelling team.

Revenue, customer, risk, regulatory obligation: each concept is defined once and consistently applied across every use case, domain and application. Conflicting definitions are eliminated.

AI agents operating on the Semantic Layer inherit business context, terminology and rules natively. Accuracy improves from 10–60% (agents on raw data) to 90–98% (agents on the governed semantic layer).

HOW IT WORKS
From physical schema to governed business model in three steps.
No data movement. The Semantic Layer is built on top of existing infrastructure, not a replacement for it.

01

Define the ontology

Business entities, relationships and rules are defined in the ontology editor, assisted by AI. The Semantic Layer agent automates creation, expansion and maintenance of the business model from connected data sources.

02

Map to physical data

Ontology classes are mapped to physical tables and columns using AI-assisted automapping. The business model is layered over the existing data infrastructure. No data is moved or replicated.

03

Expose to all consumers

The governed semantic model is the access layer for BI tools, APIs, AI agents and the Data Marketplace. Every consumer queries business terms, not raw schema. New consumers are onboarded without rebuilding the model.
